Thanksgiving, Baptism and Confirmation
At Christ Church Stannington we welcome families to bring their children for Thanksgiving. Following a Thanksgiving families may decide to have their children baptised.
A Thanksgiving is a celebration of the gift of a child. During the service we give thanks for the gift of the child, and the church family pray for the child and family. A Thanksgiving service does not involve making the same promises and commitments as a Baptism service.
Please contact us if you would like to arrange a thanksgiving.
Baptism marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives. The Baptism service is a celebration of our faith and welcomes a new person into the family of God. During the service, we will pray for the person being baptised, the family, godparents and friends.
Usually children are baptised, but we welcome any one to be baptised in Christ Church Stannington. For adults wanting to be baptised, we run a short Christianity basics course that explores Christianity and can lead on to Baptism.
At Christ Church Stannington, Baptisms take place during one of our 10:30am Sunday service. In this way, the entire church family can share in prayer for the baptism party, welcome a child being baptised into the church family, and celebrate with the family.
Please contact us if you are considering Baptism for yourself or your child.
We welcome people to be confirmed at Christ Church Stannington. We run a Short Christian Basics course once a year, which may lead on to you deciding to be confirmed.
Please contact us if you would like to discuss getting confirmed.
